This picture was taken from a shuttle as we were leaving Japan and heading to Narita Airport. It was early morning and all of us were tired and thinking about the long flight ahead, but a quick glance of Tokyo Skytree greeted us one more time before leaving the city.
After spending over a week in Japan, leaving was hard. I was glad to have spent an incredible time in the country with close friends, but I was also excited to get home. Living out of a suitcase and being constantly on the move can wear you down. Being in your own bed, your own time zone, and eating your own food is something that you can overlook when traveling. I was excited to get home but also sad to leave Tokyo behind.
So as made our journey back to Narita Airport, we got to see an iconic landmark one more time, Tokyo Skytree, a place we had been at just the night before. The night before we had made our way to the top of the tower to get one more view of the city at night, just to take it all in before we left the next day. So seeing it kind of made me sad to see but here is hoping to getting back to Japan in 2021 or even 2022 (when things get a little bit better around the world).
I can’t wait to make it back to the top of this insane tower and return to this city I love so much.
