A glimpse of Japan: Japanese countryside

As you fly across Japan on the shinkansen, you will see all sorts of little towns outside of the big cities. I have always wondered what life was like in those little towns and how different it was compared to the big cities.

The countryside flies by when you travel on the shinkansen in Japan, but this does not stop you from seeing the small towns and rice fields that dot the countryside between the large cities. I often thought about how life was in these small towns, what a typical day was, and just how different it must be when compared to Tokyo or another large town.

I wish I had the time, money, and language (I don’t speak Japanese fluently enough) to travel these small towns and just explore them, meet with people, and get a different view of Japan. There is so much to see outside of the big cities and being able to explore the small towns would be an incredible way to do it.

Maybe one day if I win the lotto or just find money somewhere, I will just retire and explore random Japanese towns for a long time. I wouldn’t mind that at all.
