A glimpse of Japan: American influence

Even when exploring the ancient streets of Kyoto in the Gion District, you will still find American influences everywhere.

We were exploring the ancient streets back in 2019, taking it all in and just enjoying a wonderful afternoon in Kyoto but had started to get hungry. We were trying to find a quick little restaurant where we could find a quick lunch and after exploring a few sites, we stumbled across a Hard Rock Café.

That’s right, even in the ancient capital, tucked away down a little sidewalk in an old looking building was a Hard Rock. The building was built to look like an old style house but instead of a family or small business, it was a big American company. We had a good laugh and kept it moving, we decided to find a restaurant around the Kyoto Station area, there was no way we could eat an American-style hamburger while in Kyoto. It just didn’t feel right.
