Restaurant review: Saikatei

This is the first restaurant review from Japan that I am posting on the blog. After several hotel reviews, I figured it was time to talk about the incredible food that you can find in Japan.

Sakatei is a multistory restaurant located in the Kyoto Station-Kyoto Tower area. It has a large, varied menu (including an English menu) including great foods like ramen, tsukune, along with a plenty of alcoholic beverages to order while enjoying the night life in the Kyoto area. The downstairs area has outdoor seating while the upstairs has private booths for groups.

We found this restaurant back in 2019 while exploring the area after visiting Kyoto Tower. We found it by simply looking over the menu outside and were glad we made it our choice for dinner not only that first night in Kyoto, but for a second night (it was that good). The food was great, the service was fast, and the prices were very reasonable (considering it was so close to the station area). There is also a call button at the booths, allowing faster service, which I loved for getting refills on beer very quickly.

I highly recommend this restaurant. It is a nice, comfortable restaurant with great food, a nice staff, and the magical button that brings you a beer refill make it one of my favorite spots. I hope to return at some point whenever I can return to Kyoto, it is that kind of place that you want to see again.
