It has been a long 18 months. Since working from home began in 2020, I have rarely traveled outside of my home town of Tampa aside from a few visits with family. I have not traveled much but now in just two weeks I will be heading to the airport for the first time since the pandemic began.
For the first time in over 19 months I will be traveling on a plane to another state (for work), going from Tampa to the mile-high city of Denver, CO. And while this isn’t a vacation, it is still a travel experience and I will be honest, I am anxious. I’m anxious because it just feels so strange and has been so long due to the pandemic.
Wearing a mask, being vaccinated, etc. are all norms that I have no issue with, but the idea of traveling still worries me. There are so many things that run through my mind when preparing for a trip but during a pandemic, it just adds to it. I am making sure to double up on the number of wipes and hand sanitizer I can carry but still feel it is not enough.
I’m sure my anxiety will calm once I get to the airport and get situated, but it will be being build before I pack my bag before heading to the airport.
I guess one good thing is that I’ll have some new material for the blog (airport reviews, travel in general, hotel review in Denver, and some restaurants possibly), so I have to focus on the positives moving forward as the anxiety begins to grow.
